Counselling

Sexual abuse counselling

How may counselling help?

Your counsellor can help you to talk through the things that are concerning you. The aim is to help you feel more in charge of your own life, and to support you if you wish to make positive changes.

You do not have to talk about anything that you don’t feel comfortable with. You will not be told what to do. However, if you are aware of a change that you would like to make but you’re not sure how to go about it, your counsellor can support you towards solutions that are practical, realistic and achievable.

Talking things through and knowing you are being listened to in a safe environment often helps.

It is up to you how much you want to share with your counsellor, and you have the right to make your own decision. It is up to you whether or not you wish to continue with counselling.

Some frequently asked questions

How to make a referral
All you need to do to make a counselling referral is call 01227 451753. We are open Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:00.
We will take a few contact details from you and then arrange a time and date for you to come in for an assessment.

What is an assessment?
What we do in an assessment is try to get a sense of what level of support you require at this time, and which of our counsellors you’d be best suited to. We also find out what times work best for you. We can usually book your assessment in within 1 – 2 weeks of your referral.
